Lending Club as an Adwords Credit Card Alternative?

adwords credit card - lending club peer-to-peer loansFor many online marketers and advertisers being able to advertise through the Google AdWords platform means thousands upon thousands of dollars in profit and extreme business growth. But as the old saying goes, "It takes money to make money".

That's the reason there has been a positive response to Lending Club's business loan offer of up to $120,000 that a select few have received. These types of peer-to-peer loans are especially welcome now that the AdWords Credit Card is no longer an option.

A number of AdWords advertisers recently received emails from Google about a loan offer from Lending Club. The business loans are meant to be used specifically to fund advertising campaigns through the AdWords platform.

The email starts, “As a valued AdWords customer, we would like to let you know of an offer through Lending Club to help business owners finance their AdWords advertising. This program offers business loans through Lending Club to help your business grow online using Google AdWords.”

This seems to be a limited test. A Google spokesperson was quoted as saying, “As part of our ongoing work to deliver solutions for advertisers, we’re running a small referral test on new potential payment options.”

Google shut down the AdWords Business Credit Card program in February of 2015. Google had partnered with a group of traditional banks on the business credit card program and launched it in both the U.S. and U.K. back in 2012. It gave small businesses access to business credit and much needed capital for their AdWords advertising campaigns. If everything works out, this new peer-to-peer loan program through Lending Club could be a convenient replacement option.

Not The First Time Lending Club & Google Have Done Business

Lending Club is a peer-to-peer lending site that, until recently, mainly focused on consumer borrowing and lending. Earlier this year though, Lending Club partnered with Google and Alibaba Group U.S., in order to ease the process of obtaining commercial loans. The Google deal is aimed at helping small companies that resell Google For Work services secure low-interest loans. Interestingly, Google funds those loans itself, while Lending Club powers a customized automated underwriting process for Google. Google was also an early investor in Lending Club.

For the current AdWords loan experiment, Google is simply referring leads to the Lending Club p2p lending platform, not actually providing the loans. If approved for a loan, Lending Club's p2p loan platform would fund the business’s AdWords account directly.

If You Have NOT Received This Offer For a P2P Loan

As mentioned earlier, only a select group has received this offer. But for other business people who advertise and grow their businesses through the AdWords platform, it may not be all that exciting to hear this news if you are left out in the cold. But there is good news, you aren't stuck searching for AdWords promo codes and the rare AdWords coupon. You can still go directly to Lending Club and apply for a business loan, you can get a quote in less than 5 minutes.

Another option to the now defunct AdWords credit card is to get a quote for a personal loan for up to $35,000 from the Prosper peer-to-peer lending site. Prosper is the 1st peer-to-peer lending site in the U.S. and they have a great reputation for funding loans quickly. Check them out today, getting a quote does not affect your credit.
